With more than 69,000 students, the Greenville County School District is the largest public school system in South Carolina and the fifty-first largest in the United States.
The School District of Greenville County includes The Fine Arts Center, the first secondary school for specialized arts instruction in South Carolina. Students audition each year to attend the Fine Arts Center and are selected based on talent, interest, motivation, and commitment to study theatre, dance, visual arts, music, music engineering, creative writing, or digital film making.
Greenville also is home to The South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, a public residential high school for emerging artists. And, the Roper Mountain Science Center provides academic and enrichment classes in health, science and social studies, and eleven magnet schools offer specialized curriculum in languages, math, science, technology, communication arts and international studies.
