The Greenville County Recreation District operates 37 parks and seven community centers throughout the county for sports and recreation.

Among the county’s more popular park destinations are The Pavilion and Discovery Island Waterpark. Located on Greenville’s Eastside, The Pavilion is a 66,000 square foot indoor complex with ice and inline skating rinks, table tennis, and volleyball courts. The sixteen-acre Pavilion campus also has three soccer fields and six tennis courts. An award-winning aquatic facility, Discovery Island Waterpark is located at Southside Park between Mauldin, SC and Simpsonville, SC.

The City of Greenville operates several public parks including Cleveland Park and Falls Park on the Reedy, which features the only curved, cantilevered pedestrian suspension bridge in the United States.

Greenville, SC also has numerous organized sports and recreation opportunities for children and adults. Carolina Elite Soccer Academy (CESA) is the largest youth soccer club in South Carolina and the Swim Association Invitational League (SAIL) is an organization of 4,100 youth swimmers on 38 teams. Adults in Greenville, SC participate in numerous softball and basketball leagues, running and cycling clubs, and soccer leagues.

Greenville even boasts a women’s roller derby team – the URGE (Upstate Roller Girls Evolution).
