Discovery Island Waterpark

Discovery Island Waterpark is located in Simpsonville, South Carolina, and is one of the Upstate’s most exciting attractions. An award winning and recently expanded aquatic facility, Discovery Island features 52,000 gallons of re-circulating water that powers a body slide, tube slide, lazy river, leisure pool area, and a splash play area with slides, geysers, and interactive play structures. The newest attraction at Discovery Island is the Flowrider; a simulator for surfing, knee boarding and body surfing. The Flowrider is one of few attractions like it in the Southeast; the closest one is located in Sevierville, TN. The water park is owned and operated by the Greenville County Recreation District. In this video, Beth Scheimann, Aquatics Manager for the Greenville County Recreation District, gives viewers a tour of Discovery Island waterpark. The Simpsonville water park draws a diverse group of patrons from toddlers to grandparents. The park has 16 lifeguards, all of whom are certified in First Aid and CPR. Discovery Island Waterpark is open from mid-May until mid-August. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 10am until 6pm and Sunday from 1pm until 6pm. Discovery Island Waterpark is also available for rentals and offers birthday party packages.
