American Red Cross Upstate SC Chapter

Founded in 1917, the Upstate South Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross supports the national humanitarian organization's mission of providing relief to victims of disasters and helping people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. In this video, viewers get a glimpse of the hands-on training and instruction offered during CPR Saturday, a free first aid and CPR class for Greenville County residents. Linda Conrad, Director of Health and Safety for the American Red Cross Upstate SC Chapter, also talks about the volunteer opportunities available with the Red Cross and programs for youth and teens such as the Red Cross Ready Program and Red Cross clubs in schools. Skilled Red Cross instructors teach CPR Saturday, First Aid, water safety training, and other Red Cross safety courses. These classes are essential in saving lives and providing health information to families, students, and employees. Now in its fourteenth year, CPR Saturday presentations are held for groups at companies, churches and other sites around Greenville County. Greenville County, SC residents rely on the American Red Cross to respond immediately and effectively wherever help is needed. The Red Cross responds to disasters by opening shelters, preparing and serving meals and snacks and mobilizing trained disaster relief workers to provide these and other services without delay. Red Cross also provides affected families with vouchers for food, clothing, prescription medications and other disaster caused needs.
