Community Foundation of Greenville

The Community Foundation of Greenville was founded in1956 . Their mission is “to enhance the quality of life of citizens of Greenville by linking philanthropic leadership, charitable resources and civic influence with needs and opportunities in the community.” In this video, Bob Morris, the Community Foundations president introduces the foundation and explains its origins and what the foundation is doing for the community today. The Foundation has helped many organizations get their start in the Greenville community. Some of the places that have benefited from The Community Foundation are featured in this video. The Salvation Army Kroc Center received $1 Million gift from the foundation to create this recreational facility. Another organization featured in this video is Greenville Forward. Greenville Forward is an organization that is setting goals for the future of Greenville and seeing that these goals are being accomplished through the 2025 initiative. Another organization that is benefiting from being part of The Community Foundation is Greenville Women Giving. This organization started with 3 women and is now up to 350 women who give annual gifts to support projects in the Greenville area. The final project featured in this video is the Lake Conestee Nature Park. This nature park was a true coordination of a private and public partnership. The development of this park would not have been possible if the Community Foundation and others in the community did not step up and contribute to the project. The Community Foundation and the individuals that support them have helped bring about a lot of growth and change in Greenville, SC.
