Midtown Artery

Midtown Artery, located in the heart of Greenville's West End Historic District, specializes in the sale of original, abstract works from artists around the world. The paintings and limited edition prints found at Midtown Artery have been meticulously scrutinized by gallery owners Charles and Laurie Thompson for their originality, content and style. The blue chip artists represented by Midtown Artery must exhibit outside their own countries, they must have installations at major museums, and they must be represented by international publishing companies. In this video, Charles Thompson takes viewers on a tour of Midtown Artery and talks about what makes his gallery unique compared with other Greenville galleries. Viewers will see some of the hand-selected works of Canadian artist Andre Desjardins and Fidel Garcia of Mexico. Desjardins is a painting poet. As others use words, his work evokes life, using lines, colors and textures. The art of Fidel Garcia blends figurative realism and abstract expressionism. His paintings call upon viewers to experience the concurrency of the physical and spiritual selves, the coincidence of reality and fantasy, and the simultaneous existence of the physical and metaphysical. Rather than simply asking for acknowledgement of these diametric forces, Garcia's paintings assist us in finding the harmony and balance between them. Midtown Artery is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 am until 7 pm, and on Sunday from Noon until 5 pm. The gallery also participates in the Metropolitan Arts Council's First Friday art tours.
