2010 Top of the Hops Beer Fest
Red Mountain Entertainment company brought Greenville’s first ever Top of the Hops Beer Fest to the Bi-Lo Center on April 10, 2010. Beer lovers by the thousands came to Greenville, SC to celebrate the event, and GreenvilleHD.com’s very own Belinda Foster headed out to the Beer Fest to find out what the Top of the Hops was all about. Ticket holders received a 2oz. sampling mug and were on their way to try unlimited samples of over 190 different kinds of hand-crafted beer. More than 60 breweries represented almost every type of beer imaginable, including local favorite, Thomas Creek Brewery, which was a sponsor of the event. The Thomas Creek Brewery is located right here in Greenville, SC and has been steadily gaining in popularity since first opening in 1998. Another local hot spot in downtown Greenville, Barley’s Taproom & Pizzeria, also sponsored the Beer Fest. Barley’s Taproom is located on W. Washington Street. Barley’s Taproom has 27 taps offering some of the best American craft brewed beers in the South. The Beer Fest featured an indoor Beer Garden, sponsored by Green’s Discount Beverage. Green’s has been the place to go in Greenville to save on adult beverages whether they’re for a party or a picnic. Green’s Discount Beverage is located on Congaree Road behind the Haywood Mall. The Top of the Hops Beer Fest wasn’t just about the various hand crafted beers; games such as Corn Hole and Ping-Pong were part of the entertainment, as well as live music inside the Bi-Lo Center arena. Event promoter Olivia Hart, of Red Mountain Entertainment, hopes to bring the Top of the Hops Beer Fest back to Greenville next year, along with all those beer lovers who donned their very own hand-crafted pretzel necklaces.
