The second annual Upstate Women’s Show at Carolina First Center in Greenville, South Carolina welcomed more than 300 vendors and 10,000 visitors during its August 27-29, 2009 run. The Thursday through Saturday event is a celebration of women of all ages, and offers a long list of entertaining and educational programs in addition to exhibits covering health and wellness, food and wine, fashion and beauty, home improvement, real estate, home décor and gardening, business and finance, arts and crafts, hobbies, gifts, travel and recreation. In this video, Show Director Jacqui Bomar talks about how the Upstate Women’s Show supports local non-profit organizations with proceeds from the 2009 event’s Bachelor Auction and My Girlfriend’s Closet benefitting Safe Harbor and Harvest Hope Food Bank. My Girlfriend’s Closet is an accessory swap where Upstate Women’s Show visitors bring hats, purses, jewelry, scarves and other accessories, donate them, and pick new accessories out of other girlfriends’ donated items. All proceeds go to Safe Harbor, a 24-hour emergency shelter and crisis line in Greenville, SC for victims of domestic violence. Also in this video, viewers see many of the exhibits and activities at the annual Upstate Women’s Show event including cooking demonstrations, live music, the Bachelor Auction, fashion shows, the Writers’ Block featuring local authors, belly dancing demonstrations, and the Home Depot do-it-yourself clinics.
