While beach music ranks high on Greenville's list of favorite sounds, the area's music scene also offers an eclectic mix of rock, country, jazz, R&B and more at local clubs, festivals and special events. Greenville, South Carolina is the hometown of Edwin McCain and a regular live music stop for Blues master Mac Arnold, former member of the Muddy Waters Band, who lives in nearby Pelzer, SC. Live music venues in Greenville include the Blind Horse Saloon, The Handlebar, Brown Street Jazz Club, Country Earl's Celebration Place and many others.

Music lovers also can find a variety of listening options on local radio stations. Bill Ellis and Beth Bradley feed the country music frenzy in Greenville with their morning show on WSSL-FM. And Beach Bob Ross and Kathy Cole strive to keep beach music alive every afternoon from 2pm until 6pm on WOLT-FM.

For Greenvillians who enjoy singing, options include the Greenville Chorale and the Palmetto Statesmen Barbershop Chorus. And for those who aspire to a singing career, former Motown recording artist Robert Hoefer has opened the South Carolina Institute for Vocal Training in Greenville to pass along some of the valuable lessons he learned as a professional musician. In addition to vocal training, the SC Institute for Vocal Training teaches the art of stage performing helping students with goal setting, time management, wardrobe and all other factors needed to succeed in the music business.
