Last Road Bluegrass

Music lovers in the Greenville, South Carolina area likely have heard the authentic sound of Last Road Bluegrass at music festivals, churches, weddings and other special events around the Upstate region of South Carolina. In this video, Last Road Bluegrass performs an original song written by band member Benji Merritt from its newly released CD, ‘Highway 81’, during a live performance at Country Earl’s Chompin’ and Stompin’ in Simpsonville, SC. Viewers hear from band members David Snyder, Brian Baker, Benji Merritt and Mike Crane about the instruments they play and how the guitar, mandolin, doghouse bass and banjo come together to form an authentic bluegrass sound. Snyder shows viewers his round back mandolin, an instrument made popular by Bill Monroe who is credited as being ‘The Father of Bluegrass’. Snyder’s mandolin was custom made by Johnny Hutto, a popular mandolin maker from Augusta, GA. Last Road Bluegrass keeps a heavy schedule of Upstate area performances including those at local BBQ restaurants, churches, festivals and private parties. The band will be on hand Saturday, Oct. 10, at the popular Pumpkintown Festival in Pumpkintown, SC. A complete schedule of events for Last Road Bluegrass is available online.
