Narvel Felts

Greenville welcomed legendary recording artist and Rockabilly Hall of Fame member, Narvel Felts to the Carolina First Center for the “Legends and Memories” concert tour. The tour featured musical legends from the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s, including Ronnie Dove, Leon Everett, and music icon, Percy Sledge. In this video, Narvel Felts shares how he began his career and the many successes he has enjoyed over the past forty years. As a boy, Narvel recalls listening to country music on the radio during a time when there was no electricity. He spent a great deal of his time picking cotton in the fields of Maldin, Missouri. But, Narvel Felts escaped the hard labor of those Missouri cotton fields, and music is what rescued him. At seventeen, Narvel’s talent was discovered by another great musical legend, Roy Orbison, who introduced Narvel to the record industry. At eighteen, he recorded his first album with Sun Records, the same label that launched a few other music icons, including Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley. Enjoying his greatest success in the 1970’s Narvel recorded over a dozen Top Ten hits including “Drift Away”, “Lonely Tear Drops”, “Funny How Time Slips Away” and his best known, “Reconsider Me”. From 1973 to 1987, Narvel’s songs hit the Billboard and Cashbox Music Charts over 50 times. Narvel Felts still wows a crowd with his soaring tenor voice and charismatic stage performance, proving that, although time may slip away, true talent never does. For more
