Christ Church Episcopal School

Christ Church Episcopal School (CCES) opened its doors in Greenville, South Carolina on September 9, 1959. An independent private school that has grown from 200 to 1,000 students over the past 50 years, CCES has grades K-12 at its campus on Cavalier Drive off Mauldin Road in Greenville, S.C. In this video, viewers hear from CCES Headmaster Dr. Leonard Kupersmith, who talks about the school’s mission to educate and to develop young men and women of character and spiritual depth. Dr. Kupersmith also gives an overview of the school’s 50th anniversary celebration that included a proclamation by Greenville Mayor Knox White that named September 9 ‘Christ Church Episcopal School Day’ in the City of Greenville, SC. Viewers also meet Ginny Tate, a fifth grade math teacher who is in her forty-first year of teaching at Christ Church Episcopal School. As part of its fiftieth birthday event, CCES welcomed back school alumni, many of whom now have children attending the school. In addition to academics, Christ Church Episcopal School also has 39 varsity and junior varsity teams in a variety of sports. CCES boasts 31 state athletic championships from 2000 to 2009, including 17 championships for the boy’s soccer and tennis teams. CCES also offers a variety of arts activities including programs in music, the visual arts and theater. The school’s International Baccalaureate programs give students a global perspective and a commitment to service that extends to the Greenville community.
