Kudzu
Allison Spinks opened Kudzu in Greenville's historic West End in 1999. A graduate of the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Georgia at Athens, Allison opened Kudzu selling unique and artsy items not found in other Greenville gift shops. A Kudzu signature item and hot seller since the day Kudzu opened in downtown Greenville is Honeypot luminaries by Creighton Cutts, owner of Bee Natural Inc., Athens, GA. Cutts came up with a technique of manipulating hot wax that resulted in a uniformed, smooth wax shell with a predictable and controllable thickness. Each Honeypot luminary features a natural dried botanical embedded in the shell. Portions of the profits from Honeypot sales help support the research being done on Cumberland Island, as well several other non-profit organizations. In this video, Allison Spinks shows some of Kudzu's unique products, and talks about her efforts to support local and regional artists, and home-grown products. Viewers take a tour of the gift store, which offers bed and bath items, clothes and accessories for children, garden items, and unique gifts for family, friends, brides, and your favorite teacher. The video highlights some of Kudzu's more popular items including the Honeypot luminaries, embroidered tea towels, robes and Milk lotion. For directions to Kudzu, call 864-271-4888.
