Travelers Rest Farmers Market
The Travelers Rest Community Farmers Market, located behind Sunrift Adventures made its debut on Saturday, June 6 2009. The market is held every Saturday during the growing season from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. adjacent to Gateway Park on North Main Street in downtown Travelers Rest, South Carolina. The brainchild of Kelly Gilkerson, Margie Vest and Sandra Stroud, the Travelers Rest Farmers Market has an average of 15 vendors and 150 visitors each week. Nestled in northern Greenville County at the intersection of Highways 25 and 276, Travelers Rest, SC sits at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, but is only a few hours from the South Carolina coast. The city gained notoriety and its name as a stopover for weary travelers and livestock drovers in South Carolina's early years. In this video, viewers visit several market vendors including Beechwood Farms, Double Blessing Farm and Crystal River Farm. Viewers also hear from market co-founder Sandra Stroud and get a glimpse of the locally grown plants and produce available at the Travelers Rest Community Farmers Market including cabbage, okra, tomatoes, peaches, corn, local honey, fresh eggs, beans, squash, cantaloupe and many other local fruits and vegetables. New growers are welcome, even if the produce just comes from a backyard garden. For information, contact Kelly Gilkerson at (864) 609-5674 or Margie Vest at (864) 414-1966.
