Special Olympics

The Special Olympics program of the Greenville County Recreation District offers sports training, recreational opportunities and competition in 15 different sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Two full time Recreation District staffers direct year round programs and events for Special Olympics with help from hundreds of community volunteers. There are no fees for Special Olympics programs. In this video, viewers visit the Greenville County Special Olympics competition held this spring at Paladin Stadium on the campus of Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. More than 1000 area residents ages eight and up participated in the April games. Viewers also hear from Greenville County Councilman Joe Dill and meet his son, Joel, a longtime participant in Greenville County Special Olympics.
