Upstate Roller Girl Evolution (URGE)
The Upstate Roller Girl Evolution (URGE) is a diverse group of women of various ages and backgrounds. They are businesswomen and athletes who work to promote and advance the sport of roller-skating and the Roller Derby League. The URGE bills itself as the No. 1 Flat Track Roller Derby League in Upstate, SC. The women's roller derby team practices at Golden Skate at Golden Park in Simpsonville, SC and travels to Columbia, Charlotte, Charleston, Fayetteville, Atlanta, and other nearby cities to compete against other women-only roller derby teams. In this video, co-coaches Doug (Shinbreaker) Fowler and Dana (Auntie Psychotic) Kilpatrick talk about teaching women athletes the skill and endurance of a true contact sport. Viewers also will hear URGE team members Connie (Con Artist) Painter, Bruiser Broady, Kitty Kutthroat and Torch explain what they love about roller derby.
