SensorTech, LLC
SensorTech, LLC was born in June 2007 in Clemson, SC, at the Clemson University incubator facility. Now located on Industrial Drive in Greenville, SC, the technology company manufactures an electrified polymer that can sense pressure. This technique allows the polymer to become a sensing material that can be used in applications such as prosthetics. The technology was discovered by Dr. Andrew Clark, SensorTech's chief technology officer, while he was working on a doctorate in bioengineering at Clemson University. Martine LaBerge, a professor of bioengineering at Clemson, is co-inventor. The initial discovery was used to form Trial Tibial Inserts for knee replacements. The SensorTech replacement prototype put Dr. Clark in discussions with local doctors and engineers and has led to research projects with the Department of Naval Research and General Electric.
