GHS Swamp Rabbit Tram-Trail

The Greenville Hospital System presented the 2nd annual Swamp Rabbit 5k on May 7th, 2010. This year, the event celebrated the “Grand Hoppening” of the GHS Tram-Trail. The GHS Swamp Rabbit Tram-Trail is a 13.55 mile walking/biking trail which runs along the Reedy River and connects Traveler’s Rest with the city of Greenville. Approximately 4,200 people registered for the event this year, and the Swamp Rabbit 5k is on its way to becoming the largest 5k in the upstate of South Carolina. Many Greenville residents are already enjoying sections of the Greenville Hospital System Swamp Rabbit Trail. The trail is open to anyone wanting to take advantage of the outdoors from bikers, walkers and runners, to rollerblades and skateboarders. The only form of transportation not allowed on the trail is any type of motorized vehicle. Almost 10 miles of the trail are already finished, running from Greenville Tech through Cleveland and Reedy River Parks, and ending just north of downtown Greenville. The overall goal of the Greenville Hospital System is to use the Swamp Rabbit Trail to promote total health within the Greenville community by encouraging residents to get out and run, walk, ride, or roll! Each year, the Swamp Rabbit 5k features activities for children, including inflatable bounce houses, face painting, and food vendors are also available.
