Take A Loved One To The Doctor Day

The third annual Take A Loved One to the Doctor Day was held on Saturday, September 19, at Haywood Mall in Greenville, South Carolina. Sponsored by 107-3 Jamz and Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center, the free event offered health screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes and prostate, and offered valuable health information from a number of sources throughout Greenville County. The brainchild of JAMZ morning radio personality Tom Joyner, Take A Loved One to the Doctor Day seeks to educate and raise awareness about the numerous diseases affecting minorities in America, and make getting annual check-ups a priority in the African American community. In this video, JAMZ Promotions Director Marlon Latta and Melinda Hudson, Community Outreach Coordinator for Greenville Hospital System give viewers an overview of the 10 am – 3 pm event at Haywood Mall. Viewers also meet several exhibitors at the event including representatives of the South Carolina Ovarian Cancer Foundation, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and The Blood Connection, and get a glimpse of the mobile unit used for prostate screenings.Take A Loved One to the Doctor Day sponsored by 107-3 Jamz and Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center gives attendees the opportunity to receive free medical screenings and consultation in a comfortable atmosphere that is not intimidating, organizers say.
