Greenville Humane Society
The Greenville Humane Society opened its doors in 1937 as the South Carolina Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SCSPCA). Over the years, the Greenville Humane Society has placed more than 250,000 previously unwanted animals in homes across the Upstate region of the state. The mission of the Greenville Humane Society is to promote and improve the quality of life and humane treatment of animals. Methods for accomplishing this mission include reducing the unwanted animal population by placing them into homes, spaying or neutering the animals received, educating the public, encouraging responsible pet ownership, eliminating animal cruelty and suffering, and seeking support for animal welfare legislation. The only large adoption center in Greenville County, the Humane Society offers low-cost spay and neuter services for dogs and cats and low-cost vaccinations for puppies and kittens. In this video, Humane Society Executive Director Kim Pittman takes viewers on a tour of the shelter on Furman Hall Road including a visit to the puppy room, the shelter's most popular spot. The Greenville Humane Society is open Monday through Friday from 12 pm until 6:30 pm, Saturday from 11 am until 5 pm, and Sunday from 1 pm until 5 pm. From pure breads to mixed breeds, the
Greenville Humane Society has as many as 140 pets available for adoption at its Greenville facility.
