Pretty Place

Fred W. Symmes Chapel, better known as Pretty Place because of its amazing view, is one of the many buildings that make up YMCA Camp Greenville. Located just seven miles from Caesars Head State Park, YMCA Camp Greenville has been in existence since 1912 and covers 1600 acres. In this video, Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area Park Manager Michael Trotter takes viewers to Pretty Place, a popular tourist attraction and wedding venue not far from Greenville, SC. Pretty Place offers a breathtaking view from the top of Standing Stone Mountain. More than 100 couples are married at the chapel each year, which is closed to the public during weddings and camp functions. The current chapel was constructed in 1941 with several additions and improvements made in subsequent years. In addition to being a venue for weddings, YMCA Camp Greenville is a year-round operation serving as a Summer Camp, Environmental Education Center, and Conference Center. For those considering Pretty Place for a wedding, the chapel capacity is 300-400 people. Weddings are scheduled in a two-hour time block, but additional hours can be scheduled. Rehearsals are reserved in one-hour time slots. For more information or scheduling, call the Camp Office at 864.836.3291 ext. 100. Pretty Place is 40 miles north of Greenville, SC and fives miles off Highway 276 at the South Carolina/North Carolina State Line.
