David Thomas For Congress
South Carolina Senator David Thomas (R-Fountain Inn) says he is running for South Carolina’s Fourth District Congressional seat not only to give Palmetto State residents vocal representation in Washington but also to be a proactive voice for economic development at home. In this video interview from the BMW Zentrum in Greer SC, Thomas says he will have the same intense focus on economic development for the Upstate as Carroll Campbell did when he brought the BMW manufacturing facility to the region. Campbell served as South Carolina’s Fourth District Congressman and as Governor of South Carolina. Thomas said he believes he can fill the collaborative void that presently exists between economic development officials and government officials on the state and national levels. Thomas said his experience in business and elected positions in local and state governments qualify him for a seat in the U.S. Congress. A strong conservative, Thomas successfully ran for Greenville City Council in 1979, and has served as a State Senator since 1984. He earned a B.A. from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte in 1971 and a Master of Divinity degree in 1975 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Four years later,
Thomas received a Master of Arts from Texas Christian University and in 1995 he obtained a law degree from the University of South Carolina. He and his wife, Fran, reside in Fountain Inn, SC.
