Minority Economic Development Institute, Inc.
The Minority Economic Development Institute, Inc. (MEDI) is a non-profit organization that works with minority owned businesses in South Carolina to help them secure contracts and identify business opportunities. This project serves as a statewide resource to help increase the economic assets of minority individuals and minority-owned businesses. Institute Initiatives in business development, research, policy and advocacy, and education and training are offered to increase prosperity for the minority population in South Carolina. MEDI serves as an educational and networking organization, teaching minority business owners about requirements such as certifications and bonding for procurement with larger companies. In this video, S. T. Peden, President of the Minority Economic Development Institute talks about the organization's partnerships with Greenville Hospital System, the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research and others that help identify the needs of larger corporations and match them with the skills and capabilities of minority-owned businesses.
