Trey Gowdy For Congress
Trey Gowdy is seeking the Republican nomination for South Carolina’s Fourth Congressional District, which includes Greenville, Spartanburg and Union counties and a portion of Laurens County. Gowdy attended public schools in Spartanburg, SC, and graduated from Baylor University in Waco, TX. After earning a law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law, Gowdy clerked for a federal judge, worked in private practice, and as a federal prosecutor in Greenville County. In 2000, Gowdy ran for and won the race for Solicitor in the Seventh Judicial Circuit, which includes Spartanburg and Cherokee counties in South Carolina. Gowdy is one of five Republican Congressional candidates who will be on the ballot in a primary election to be held on June 10, 2010. In this video, Gowdy is interviewed after a candidate’s forum held at the BMW Zentrum in Greer, SC. Gowdy says he believes Americans are hungry for principled conservatives who believe in free market solutions, respect for the rule of law, moral parameters, that education and hard work are the paths to success, and that everyone should have an equal opportunity. Gowdy says he believes in a limited government that excels at its core functions, and inspires public trust and confidence. He says members of Congress cannot vote themselves pay raises while their constituents are losing their jobs.
Gowdy and his wife, Terri, reside in Spartanburg, SC with their two children.
